The short version

We try to collect only the information we actually need.

The Accessmate WordPress plugin is designed to do as much as possible directly on your own website. We don’t need your website’s accessibility scan data to pass through Accessmate servers for the core scanning functionality.

Optional AI features work differently. If you configure an AI provider and use an AI feature, your WordPress site sends the information required for that specific request directly to the AI provider you selected.

We don’t sell your personal information.

When you visit our website

Accessmate WordPress Plugin

Accessmate is designed with a local-first approach.

The core accessibility scanning functionality runs on your WordPress website. Your website does not need to send its scan results to Accessmate servers for the core scanner to work.

This means that information such as your accessibility findings, page content, and scan results can remain on your own WordPress installation.

The exact information stored by the plugin depends on the features you use and your WordPress configuration.

AI features

Accessmate includes optional AI-powered features such as accessibility explanations and code-fix suggestions.

AI features are optional. They are not required to use the core accessibility scanner.

If you choose to configure an AI provider and trigger an AI feature, your WordPress server sends the information required to process that request directly to the AI provider you selected.

This may include:

  • The relevant HTML snippet
  • Accessibility issue information
  • Relevant context needed to generate the response
  • Your API key as required by the selected provider

Your data does not pass through Accessmate servers for these AI requests.

The available AI providers may include:

  • Anthropic Claude
  • OpenAI
  • Google Gemini
  • Ollama

Ollama can be used locally, meaning the AI processing can take place on your own machine or local network without sending the request to an external AI provider.

Before using an external AI provider, you should review that provider’s own privacy policy and terms.

Used for optional AI accessibility explanations and fix suggestions.

OpenAI

Used for optional AI accessibility explanations and fix suggestions.

Google Gemini

Used for optional AI accessibility explanations and fix suggestions.

Ollama

Used for local AI processing when configured by the website administrator.

Ollama can operate entirely on your own machine or local network.

Accessibility Widget

Accessmate includes an optional visitor accessibility toolbar that allows visitors to adjust aspects of how a website is displayed.

Depending on how the website administrator has configured it, the toolbar may provide features such as:

  • Font size
  • High contrast
  • Dyslexia-friendly font
  • Grayscale
  • Reading guide
  • Pause animations
  • Line height
  • Large cursor
  • Highlight links
  • Screen mask

The toolbar remembers visitor preferences using the browser’s local storage.

The OpenDyslexic font used by the toolbar is bundled with the plugin and served from the website itself. The plugin does not need to contact a font CDN to provide this feature.

Cookies and similar technologies

For the Accessmate WordPress plugin, API keys used for supported AI providers are encrypted at rest using AES-256-CBC with your WordPress authentication salt.

However, no online service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We keep information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing services, maintaining business records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal obligations.

The exact retention period depends on the type of information and why we have it.
