How AccessMate Tools handle data
This page describes what each tool on accessmate.ai/tools does with the information you give it. It supplements the AccessMate privacy policy.
Across all tools
- We don't use advertising or third-party analytics trackers on this site.
- When you use a tool, we set one cookie,
amt_session, holding a random identifier. It contains no personal information and is used to apply fair-use limits. It expires after 30 days. - To enforce usage limits, we derive a one-way, keyed code from your IP address. We don't store the IP address itself, and the usage counters are deleted when their time window ends (at most one day).
- The tools run on Cloudflare's network. Our application logs never record your IP address or cookie values.
Website Accessibility Checker
- We store the page address you enter, the final address after redirects, the page title, the scan results and a small screenshot of the top of the page.
- The page is loaded in a headless Chromium browser operated by Cloudflare Browser Run. It is loaded like any other visitor would see it: we don't log in, submit forms, or follow links.
- Anyone who has a report's link can view it. Report links are long random codes and are not listed or indexed by search engines, but don't share them if the address you scanned is sensitive.
- Scan records and reports are deleted automatically after 30 days.
PDF Accessibility Checker
- Your PDF is opened and checked by the page in your browser. It is not uploaded to AccessMate or sent to any other service, and it isn't stored.
- The report is created in your browser and isn't sent to us. It leaves your device only if you download it or print it.
- The PDF is released from memory when you check another file or leave the page.
- To keep the tool responsive, we count checks in your browser's session storage. This count never leaves your device.
Accessibility Statement Generator
- Your statement is generated by the page in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to AccessMate or anyone else, and nothing is stored on our servers.
- If you turn on “Save a draft in this browser”, your answers are stored in this browser's local storage on your device until you delete the draft or clear your browser data. Drafts are off by default.
Color Contrast Checker
- Colours and sample text are checked by the page in your browser. They aren't sent to AccessMate or stored.
Alt Text Generator
- Unlike the other browser-based tools, this one sends your image to a server. Your browser first resizes the image and re-encodes it, which removes metadata such as location and camera details. It then sends the image, the purpose you choose, the language and any page context over HTTPS to AccessMate's server.
- Our server checks the image and sends it with your purpose, language and context to Cloudflare Workers AI (opens in a new tab), which runs the AI model that writes the alt text. Cloudflare says it doesn't keep Workers AI inputs or outputs after the request and doesn't use them to train models.
- AccessMate doesn't intentionally store the image, the page context or the generated alt text. They are held in memory only while the request is handled, and they are never written to our database, file storage or logs.
- To enforce limits, we store counters keyed by one-way codes derived from your session, from your session together with a fingerprint of the image, and from your IP address. These codes can't be turned back into the image, the session or the address, and they can't link the same image across sessions. Session and image counters are deleted after 30 days; network counters after at most one day.
- For operations, we log the time, the purpose and language you chose, how long the model took and how many tokens it used. We don't log the image, its name or size, the context or the result.
- Don't upload images that contain personal or confidential information you aren't allowed to share.
